Commercial Groundworks, Excavations & Paving

A great surface starts with a solid foundation. We handle excavation, groundworks, and base construction to ensure resin, asphalt, or concrete surfaces perform long-term. From car parks to access roads, we prepare stable, level bases built for commercial loads.

What our clients say

Why proper groundworks matter

Clean site preparation

All weeds, plants and loose materials must be removed before work begins; we dig down 150–200 mm and check soil conditions.

Strong sub‑base

We use MOT Type 3 aggregate or open‑graded tarmacadam for drainage and strength, compacted with heavy equipment.

Correct base selection

Whether you need permeable tarmac, reinforced concrete or mesh systems, we choose materials to match load requirements.

Precise levels & drainage

A level base with the correct fall ensures water runs off or drains through properly, preventing puddles and sinkage.

Edge restraints & borders

We install robust edging in concrete, metal or brick to hold your surfacing in place.

Professional equipment & safety

Our team uses the right machinery and safety procedures for excavation and compaction.

Pricing

New base & resin

Priced after survey

Every groundwork project is unique. Costs depend on excavation depth, base material (tarmac, concrete or Type 3), site access and surface area. We provide a detailed quote after inspection.

Our groundworks process

How we work

Site survey & quote

We assess soil type, drainage and access, then provide a tailored estimate.

Base construction

We install permeable tarmac or reinforced concrete bases according to project needs.

Clearing & excavation

We remove existing surfaces and dig to the required depth, checking for utilities.

Leveling & edging

We set levels, ensure drainage and install edging restraints.

Sub‑base installation

We lay and compact MOT Type 3 or other specified materials, ensuring stability.

Final surface preparation

The base is left ready for resin, asphalt, concrete or paving installation.

Beyond resin

While we specialise in resin‑bound surfaces, our groundwork services extend to traditional tarmac and concrete paving for commercial yards, access roads and pathways. This flexibility means we can recommend the best surface and base combination for your project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t resin be laid directly on gravel or block paving?

Resin requires a solid, stable base. Unstable surfaces must be excavated and replaced with tarmac or concrete to prevent sinking or cracking.

Typically 150–200 mm, depending on soil conditions and load requirements.

MOT Type 3 aggregate for sub‑bases, permeable tarmac or C35 concrete for heavy‑load areas.

Asphalt bases usually cure in about a week; concrete needs around four weeks before resin or asphalt can be laid.

Yes. We design drainage gradients and install edging restraints to keep the surface stable.
